Car sharing
From January 2023 Ramblers HQ suggested that we follow their example and introduce a new mileage charge for our journeys from the meeting place - this being at B&Q for Kendal Ramblers - to the start of our walks.
The new price, which is currently set at 45p, will include the driver and will be divided between the total number of people in the car. The total distance in miles, that is there and back, will be multiplied by 45p and then that amount will be divided by the number of people in the car, rounded up or down to make it as simple as possible.
e.g. A 24 mile return journey with four people in the car (including driver) works out at 24 x 45p = £10.80 divided by 4 people = £2.70 each, so each of the 3 passengers will pay the driver £2.70. Previously, passengers would pay the driver 24 x 15p = £3.60 for this journey, regardless of the number of passengers.
